GeorgicaAlthough the existing spaces in this house fulfill the client’s programmatic needs, this architectural project seeks to create a distinct identity, more in tune with their modern aesthetic, through a series of new buildings, landscape elements and renovations to the existing house. These pieces include new main entry, master suite terrace, outdoor lounge area, pool pavilion/outdoor dining room, pool terrace, tennis pavilion and garage. The ability to affect this number of individual areas has provided the opportunity to root the home to the landscape by creating multiple outdoor places, tied together by a readable, architectural language. This language consists of rough stone vertical surfaces, honed stone horizontal surfaces, lightly stained, rough sawn timbers with custom steel, structural connections and lead coated copper, standing seam roofs. The assemblage of these materials is meant to bridge the gap from traditional to modern while alluding to the agricultural ties of the Hamptons.
